Andrew Edlin Gallery is pleased to inaugurate its new location with
It’s a Bird,It’s a Plane... a solo exhibit of art by Vahakn Arslanian.
Show dates are
May 7 - June 8, 2002
with an opening reception Thursday, May 9th from 5-8 pm. It’s a
Bird, It’s a Plane... celebrates a new series of works that feature delicate
drawings of birds inside Arslanian’s trademark found frames. The artist
has always been fascinated with flight- at 26 he has already created many
pieces depicting
airplanes, rockets, and assorted flying
machines. It is rare that an artist so young could have already produced a
body of work to warrant a
retrospective exhibition. Such is the case with Vahakn Arslanian. He began
making art as a child and was exhibiting by the age of 13. A scavenger of
demolition sites and flea markets, Arslanian appropriates discarded windows,
picture frames, car windshields, and other found objects as the new homes
for his innocent, beautifully rendered drawings and mixed media creations.
