Andrew Edlin Gallery presents a dual-artist booth at Frieze Masters, pairing Beverly Buchanan (1940-2015) and Frank Walter (1926 – 2009), two artists whose bodies of work emerge from excavations of place, memory, and lineage.

The presentation, which anticipates Buchanan's solo exhibition at Edlin this November, is anchored by her renowned shack sculptures—structures that distill her decades-long investigation of the vernacular architecture of the American South, and of which several are currently on display in “In Minor Keys” at the 61st Venice Biennale.

The Buchanan selection will be surrounded by a group of wall-hung works by Walter, an Antiguan artist celebrated as one of the Caribbean's most significant self-taught visionaries who produced paintings and sculptures ranging from miniature landscapes to abstract explorations of the universe. Sourced from the Cowles-Hoard Collection, the greatest patrons of the artist during his lifetime, many of these works from Walter's diverse oeuvre will be exhibited publicly for the first time at Frieze Masters.
